A Sugarhouse Casino trolley mildly bumped mirrors with a bus in Philadelphia in May, which according to Insurance Journal, led 9 of the 26 passengers to file fraudulent claims against the trolley company for sustaining “serious injuries” from the accident.
As of October, District Attorney Seth Williams stated that the surveillance system in place on the trolley clearly showed that none of the 26 passengers on board abruptly moved during the slight “impact.” Audio equipment on the trolley captured people conspiring against the casino’s “deep pockets.”
The nine people who submitted claims are now being charged with insurance fraud and possible charges of attempted theft by deception.
