Worker Attempts to Commit Workers Compensation Fraud in Full View of Security Cameras

It takes all kinds to make the world go round. Opportunists being one of them, but in this case, when the opportunity presents itself to steal from your employer and the tax payers, we are thankful for security cameras.

Behold this genius, Sheyla Veronica White, a Fort Lauderdale, FL native who was visibly startled by a sprinkler head that fell from the ceiling to her desk. It didn’t take her very long to decide what to do with it, though. White picked it up, and in plain view of security cameras, whacked herself in the forehead with it, and filed a workers’ compensation claim, according to Fox 13 News.

The employer’s workers’ compensation insurance carrier wasn’t buying it, and rightfully so. An investigation ensued and detectives immediately requested the security footage, producing this video:

Thanks to this evidence, White was convicted of workers’ compensation fraud and received a sentence consisting of 18 months of probation. No restitution is required in any form, as her scam was uncovered before the claim was paid.
