TikTok Craze – NEW to our Internet Profile Reports

TikTok, a video-sharing social networking app, has skyrocketed to the top of the social media popularity food chain, with statistics showing that the app has been downloaded 1.5 BILLION times. Users create and post short videos that feature dancing, lip-syncing, comedy, talent, and more. Naturally, we as investigators are taking advantage of this content goldmine and adding the platform to our Internet Profile Reports to better serve our clients and capture subject lifestyles in the form of 60 second video clips!

We all know people are always looking for their 15 seconds of fame, and who wouldn’t want to be TikTok famous?! Users have the ability to keep their accounts private. However, in order to get noticed, users leave their accounts public.

One way users can get noticed is by participating in “challenges.” According to an article on Social Media Examiner, “TikTok challenges, both organic and sponsored, are often a combination of three elements: text, sound, and movement (usually a choreographed dance). They can be started by individuals, usually TikTokers or influencers with many followers, or by brands that have invested in TikTok advertising.”

For instance, there is a #PushUpChallenge trending on TikTok currently. Sara Belcher of Distractify states, “There are a couple of different versions of this challenge on TikTok, depending on whether you want to do it alone or with a friend. If you’re doing the challenge alone, the point is to slowly ease yourself down and then back up again on the beats of Daft Punk’s ‘Harder Better Faster.’ The challenge with a friend is more complicated. Starting in a full plank, you go down into a forearm plank and then back up. Then, you cross your inner arm to touch your outer shoulder and then high five your partner with your outer hand. The tricky part is when the person on the left rolls under their partner, who has to jump to the other side. While it doesn’t require much strength to complete, it definitely requires some patience and coordination with your partner to get it right.” Sounds like a lot of physical activity for people who may be out of work and bored during quarantine.

Welcome to the world of TikTok! We can’t wait to show you what we find!
