NJ Attorney General Indicts 5 Dentists And 2 Office Managers with Fraud

Five dentists (Stephen Beukas, Mary D. Anerousis, John Feiler, Matthew Girardy, Trina Ruchelman), a billing manager (Joyce Fuller) and an office manager (Illuminata Davi) that comprised New Jersey Mobile Dental Practice of Colts Neck, New Jersey, have been charged with insurance fraud, theft by deception, conspiracy, healthcare claims fraud, misconduct by a corporate official, and third-degree Medicaid fraud, bringing the grand total of the fraud scheme to $5.5 million, with an astonishing 31 counts in the indictment.

The fraudulent practitioners moved from nursing homes, adult care facilities, and even homes throughout New Jersey for the purpose of treating dental needs on-site.

Essentially, the “mobile dentists” and managers were over-billing Medicaid in excess of $5.55 million for services, travel expenses, “behavior management charges,” etc. and billing for 3,714 claims for services never rendered beginning on January 1st, 2003 and ending on August 1st, 2009. The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit began their investigation after the excess of suspicious claims had been submitted.
