New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Has Officially Approved Operation to Uber and Lyft

According to Insurance Journal, Republican Governor Chris Christie has approved Uber and Lyft’s legal operation in the state of New Jersey.

Lawmakers originally approved the measure to regulate and legalize the services back in December of 2016, and on February 10, 2017, Christie officially signed off.

Moving forward, the state attorney general will now make the decision on the sufficiency of the criminal background checks already in place by Uber and Lyft, and whether or not an additional kind of criminal check is warranted.

Furthermore, this law also contains requirements for insurance.

New Jersey has now joined the more than 30 states with laws approving operation.

How this affects the rest of us remains to be seen.
