Insurance Journal reports that Joseph Salomone, 44, from Nutley, NJ, has been charged with 125 counts of second-degree health care claims fraud, one count second-degree attempted theft by deception, and one count second-degree theft by deception for allegedly submitting $89,000 worth of false claims for “treatments” on more than thirty patients involved in automobile accidents.
Between the years of 2007 and 2011, Salomone instructed his staff to submit 125 fraudulent claims to New Jersey Manufacturer’s, Allstate, Liberty Mutual, High Point, and United States Automobile Association, to collect approximately $196,055. Salomone ultimately received $89,283 out of the $196,055.
According to Attorney General Chiesa, not only did Salomone make false claims, but he also altered patients’ examination results to keep them coming back for treatment, which in turn meant more billing.
