C.J. Grace of Huffington Post, former BBC Journalist and author of “Adulterer’s Wife: How to Thrive Whether You Stay or Not” gave us a collection of 12 real life excuses that cheating men gave their wives after being confronted. Grace writes that the excuses “vary from extremely predictable to astonishingly off the wall.” See the list below:
“It’s not what it looks like—I did not have sex with that woman.”
“I reserve the right to **** who I want, when I want. I don’t believe in monogamy.”
“I couldn’t help it. It just happened.”
“How can I choose between you and her? It would be like asking you to choose between our two sons.”
“I’m sorry. It was a mistake. I don’t know what to say.”
“I’m perfectly capable of being in love with two women at once.”
“Don’t you want me to be happy?”
“I did it out of kindness—she was feeling down and needed some human affection.”
“You shouldn’t have kept pushing me to tell you what was going on—you were perfectly happy before.”
“You’re only upset because of your conditioning. You need to let go of having to be right all the time and find a way of being happy by accepting me as I am.”
“I have a stronger sex drive than you do.”
“We’ve had past lives together.”
No matter how absurd these excuses sound, that is exactly what they are…excuses. He’s been caught and he’s trying to come up with a way to take the focus off of him and place the blame elsewhere. Don’t ever feel guilty for protecting yourself.
